Ariel’s first performance as Minnie Mae Barrie in the Anne Of Green Gables production was last night. For those who haven’t seen it yet – it’s fantastic. The actor/actresses did a fantastic job and the script was quite funny. Even though I have heard the store a million times, I really enjoyed it.  Tickets are still available at the door if you want to get in to see it Friday or Saturday at 7.

2009 Fall Pictures

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

This year I had Jillian from Captive Memories take the kid’s school pictures.  She took them at the local park and they turned out amazing. The colors are brilliant – even more so in print. I LOVE them. I have two for each kid: one is their photo that we’re handing out this year and the other is a fun photo that I have hanging in the living room.

Super Star Digital Scrapbooking Kit

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

I am very excited about my newest kit:) It’s only my second kit so far – but definitely my favorite lol.  The idea for this kit came when I was working on a layout for Kahlan’s eighth birthday. I wanted to scraplift a layout I saw in a scrapbooking magazine, but I couldn’t find the right embellishment to get the look I wanted so I decided to create my own! After the layout was done, I felt inspired to design some papers and embellishments to match and 44 pieces later we have the Super Star Kit:)

Here is Kahlan’s birthday layout listing 8 things about Kahlan. The background paper, journaling stripes and star embellishment are all included in the Super Star Kit.

Chili Lime Flatbread with Black Forest Chicken

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Dave and I have been watching Top Chef on the Food Network all afternoon. Every time he watches those shows, he wants to cook. Our pantry is a little empty right now – grocery shopping needed – so Dave had to improvise with what he could find. The result:

Dave started by making little mini Chili Lime Flatbreads – basically dough seasoned with chopped up chili peppers and fresh squeezed lime juice.  Yes – we had fresh limes lol. We don’t normally but Dave bought them for mixing drinks at his birthday party last weekend and never used them. Anyway – the dough was rolled and cut into small circles and then deep fried.

The mini flat breads where then topped with shaved Black Forest Chicken. That was topped with scrambled eggs seasoned with onion and garlic.  A sauce made from cream, cheese, water, a little flour and salt and pepper was drizzled over it all with havarti cheese shredded over all.

SO YUMMY!!!!

Pumpkins & Halloween

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Man, I really don’t blog much any more on here!! I’ll try and catch you up on recent fun! Everyone is settling quite nicely into school routine, and Ariel is back in voice lessons. Kahlan and Rayelle will be taking swimming lessons but they don’t start until January. Work is picking up, so life hasn’t really slowed down but it’s routine and routine is good.

Last weekend we carved pumpkins with kids. Dave and the kids did most of the work, and they had a blast. I always love carving pumpkins! The kids make a big deal about the “icky” insides, and draw fun faces for daddy to carve!

Ariel’s school does an assembly with the whole school on Friday mornings and kids are allowed to sign up to do special presentations if they want. Ariel and one of her friends signed up to sing “Oh Canada” in French so Rayelle and I went along to listen. It was fabulous and I decided I really need to learn French before she starts talking behind my back!

Last but not least – today was Halloween! Rayelle was Snow White and usually she walks to kindergarten with her babysitter so today I picked her up for school so she could wear her costume. Ariel and Kahlan got to change into their costumes after lunch for a costume parade. Ariel was Hannah Montana and we made her a microphone using some cardstock, a soft ball and some silver and black ribbon. Kahlan was Iron Man and we picked up a touch light from Canadian Tire for $4 that he wore under the costume to make the “heart” like the real iron man. It was a HUGE hit – tons of people stopped to tell him how cool it was!

Ariel’s discipleship group was to help set up for our church’s Halloween bash, so while she did that Dave and I took Rayelle and Kahlan around the mall with my sister, her two kids and their dad. Ariel was a bit bummed to miss that part, it something we do every year, but the three of them all share the candy anyway so she got over it. After making the rounds of the mall, we went back to the church where they had face painting, carnival games, bouncers, a craft room, a bunch of little kid games and toys that my neice and nephew loved, and a bunch of other activities and candy for the kids. I loved it – it is by far the best bash yep, and it was warm, safe and not scary.

If you’re on my facebook – you can see pictures there. My camera was being weird, so I used Kari’s. I’ll add more pics once I get my hands on Kari’s memory card lol.
